Editorial Design
A book cover redesign of Jonas EIka's 'Efter Solen', winner of Nordisk Råds Litteraturpris (2018). The design includes a 3D print of something anthropomorphic, representing the stories' disturbing depictions of strangely unreal and real dystopian scenarios.

The Story
Jonas Eika's 'Efter Solen' is a freaky, picture-creating short story collection about today's global challenges with unstoppable capitalism and climate crisis. The collection consists of five short stories in which poetic descriptions create both beautiful and disturbing motifs.
The Technical Design
As an effort to learn new technology and design solutions based on current tendencies, 3D model-ling became part of the process of remaking the 'Efter Solen' book cover. As a result, the process became quite technical and almost purely digital. This is interesting when you consider the tactile quality of the finished book design, being a purely physical manifestation.
Designing for the absurd
'Efter solen' hosts stories that will stay in your mind - almost to a haunting extent. To emphasise and visualise this feeling, a disturbing silver-skinned split mask is placed onto a spot of blurry and stretched nuances of purple and yellow. The mask sets the scene for the conception of the human and the non-human, the real and the unreal along with the strangely beautiful - all inviting the reader into the Jonas Eika universe: A science-fiction inspired reality.
